Symptoms of vitamin deficiency and how they can be cured

You may know about deficiency of vitamins in your body through different means. For instance, whiteness in your nails could be one of them. However, there are certain other indications which remind you of diseases your body is undergoing.

We would like to share five such ways your body silently tells you about the deficiency of vitamins your body has been experiencing.

Red splits or cracks on corner of lips:

Deficiency: The cracks occur because of a diet too low in vitamins. For instance, deficiency of iron, zinc, and vitamins B like niacin (B3), riboflavin (B2), and B12 may lead to this disease.

Remedy: Vitamin C. Combine fish, eggs, poultry, peanuts, oranges and lentils, etc with veggies like broccoli, red bell peppers, kale, and cauliflower for better effects. Oranges can also be helpful.

Red scaly rash on your face, neck or elsewhere, and hair loss:

Deficiency: Deficiency of Biotin (B7), known as the hair vitamin, cause hair loss. While your body stores fat-soluble vitamins (A, D, E, K), it doesn’t store most vitamins B, which are water soluble.

Remedy: Consume more cooked eggs (cooking deactivates avidin), salmon, avocados, mushrooms, cauliflower, soybeans, nuts, raspberries and bananas.

Red or white acne-like bumps, normally on cheeks, arms, thighs:

Deficiency: Essential fatty acids and vitamins A and D are required to get out of this situation.

Remedy: Have more saturated fat and trans fats and increase healthy fats. Focus on adding more salmon and sardines. Nuts like walnuts and almonds, and seeds like ground flax, hemp, and chia will cure these bumps.

Tingling, prickling, numbness in hands, feet or elsewhere:

Deficiency: Insufficiency of vitamins B like folate (B9), B6, and B12.

Remedy: Consume enough spinach, asparagus, beets, beans (pinto, black, kidney, lima), eggs, octopus, mussels, clams, oysters, and poultry to avoid this situation.

Muscle cramps in form of stabbing:

Deficiency: Magnesium, calcium, and potassium

Remedy: Eat more bananas, almonds, hazelnuts, squash, cherries, apples, grapefruit, broccoli and dark leafy green veggies like kale, spinach and dandelion.
