The citizens who came to jet COVID-19 jabs started protesting against the health officials for allegedly asking them to return home due to the non-availability of the AstraZeneca vaccine.

According to the guidelines, AstraZeneca could be administered to a specific age group of men and women. The vaccine shot could be given to the male aged 18 years or above, and the women above 40 years of age.

It said it was "carefully reviewing" similar instances in Australia.

"Pakistan will receive overall 45 million COVID-19 vaccine doses under the COVAX scheme this year," according to the statement.

According to sources, AstraZeneca has applied for registration to the Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan (DRAP) through a Pakistani pharmaceutical company, sources said.
