Tahira Asif’s killing condemned in Parliament

ISLAMABAD: The killing of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) Parliamentarian Tahira Asif was condemned in the National Assembly on Friday, ARY News reports.

The session of National Assembly was presided by Speaker Ayaz Sadiq. Just as the session started, Sadiq said that the house’s business of today will not be discussed due to the demise of MNA Tahira Asif.

Tahira Asif passed away at a hospital in Lahore after she was attacked by unknown gunmen as she was heading towards Islamabad from Lahore.

MQM Parliamentarian Mohammad Hussain said that the beacon of truth has been extinguished.

Sahibzada Tariqullah of Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) and Chairman of Awami Muslim League (AML) Sheikh Rasheed Ahmad also condemned the incident.

Mehmood Khan Achakzai, MNA from Pakhtunkhwa Milli Awami Party (PkMAP) said that the entire country is burning and people are killing each other. He added that Pakistan has become an epicentre of terrorism.

He further said that a new commission should be formed to investigate the Model Town incident, which claimed the lives of at least 12 Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) workers.

Federal Minister Rana Tanveer ensured the house that killers of MQM MNA will be apprehended and strict punishment will be awarded to them.

Fateha prayers were also offered for the deceased parliamentarian.
