Renowned sports analyst and former cricketer Tanvir Ahmed on Wednesday revealed why he doesn’t consider former batsman and current chief selector Inzamam-ul-Haq a legend.

In a Q&A session during ARY News show ‘Har Lamha Purjosh’, the former cricketer opened up about his controversial statement about Inzamam-ul-Haq and said that though he considers him a great cricketer he gave the statement because of Haq’s alleged favouritism as chief selector.

“I said this during a show, I do consider him a legend, but gave that statement after he became chief selector and favoured his nephew (Imam-ul-Haq),” said Tanveer Ahmed.

He added that though Imam-ul-Haq is performing but there were several other players who were better than him and could have been selected.

“He (Imam-ul-Haq) was not Brian Lara who could be selected into national team with a two to three years of first class cricket,” said Tanveer Ahmed.

Known for his straight talk, Tanveer Ahmed maintained that no matter what one thinks about him, he feels a number of talented young cricketers were ignored to select Imam-ul-Haq for the national team.

Tanveer Ahmed also blamed legendary fast bowler and former captain Waqar Younis for ending his cricketing career.

Ahmed made his Test debut in 2010 against South Africa in Abu Dhabi and has played five Test matches in his international career. He took six wickets on his debut.
