Taylor Swift turned down Super Bowl offer due to Travis Kelce?

Pop megastar Taylor Swift has finally addressed the buzz that she turned down the coveted offer to headline the Super Bowl halftime show, due to her fiancé, NFL star Travis Kelce’s association with the sport.

Currently out and about to promote her new album ‘Life of the Showgirl’, Taylor Swift was recently seated opposite Jimmy Fallon on his late-night show, when the Grammy-winner debunked the rumour that she was approached to play the Super Bowl halftime show 2026, at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California, next February, but rejected the massive gig, due to Kansas City Chiefs’ tight-end Travis Kelce, after their engagement earlier this year.

When asked to confirm the ‘rumour that [she’s] turned down the Super Bowl because of performance footage’, Swift rejected the buzz with a simple ‘no’ in reply, before she launched a lengthy explanation on the matter. “Here’s the thing, Jay Z [of Roc Nation – co-producer of the halftime show] has always been very good to me. Our teams are very close. They sometimes will call and say, ‘How does she feel about,'” she began.

“That’s not an official offer or a conference room conversation,” Swift continued. “We’re always able to tell him the truth, which is that I am in love with a guy who does that sport on that actual field. That is violent chess. That is gladiators without swords. That is dangerous.”

“The whole season, I am locked in on what that man is doing on the field. Can you imagine if he’s out there every single week putting his life on the line, doing this very dangerous, very high-pressure, high-intensity sport, and I’m like, ‘I wonder what my choreo should be. I think we should do two verses of ‘Shake it Off’ into ‘Blank Space’ into ‘Cruel Summer’ would be great,'” explained the ‘Lover’ hitmaker.

“This has nothing to do with Travis; he would love for me to do it. I’m just too locked in,” she summed up.

Notably, Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce, who started dating in the summer of 2023, broke the long-anticipated news of their engagement on August 26, when she shared pictures from their dreamy proposal on Instagram and announced in the caption, “Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married.”
