ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court of Pakistan on Friday ordered inquiry officials to submit a report on alleged torture of a 10-year-old child maid by her employers, an influential judge and his wife, within three days and summoned Tayyaba in the next hearing on December 11.
Surprisingly, a new couple contacted the top court on Friday, claiming that the tortured child maid was actually their ‘missing’ daughter.
A two-member SC bench headed by Chief Justice Pakistan (CJP) Justice Saqib Nisar also ordered DNA tests to confirm the identity of the parents of the 10-year-old child maid.
“My daughter went missing about a year-and-a-half,” said Zaffar, the man claiming to be Tayyaba’s father.
Zaffar said, “I made my daughter work as a maid at a bungalow for a sum of Rs 34, 000 per year,” as he explained and added, “Her previous employers told us that they have sent Tayyaba to Islamabad”
The alleged new father of the 10-year-old child maid continued that when he enquired about her later from the previous employers they told them that Tayyaba has gone missing.
“When I saw the photographs of Tayyaba on media, I recognised her instantly,” said Kausar, who claimed to be her new mother.
Tayyaba Torture Case shocked Pakistan after disturbing images of the girl, purporting to show her badly beaten and bruised, circulated on the mainstream and social media recently.
The upheaval soon prompted the Islamabad High Court to order a probe into the incident but took a new turn when 10-year-old’s supposed parents forgave the judge and his wife.
Human right activists in the country expressed frustration over the developments in the child maid case and suggested that Tayyaba’s employers must have pressured her family.
