TTP terrorist involved in attack on Major Ishaq killed

RAWALPINDI: Pakistan Army on Thursday claimed to have killed a terrorist and his accomplice involved in the attack on martyred officer Major Ishaq.

According to the Inter Services Public Relation (ISPR), Zafir Shah was a member of the proscribed Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan. He was killed along with an accomplice after an intelligence-based operation was launched by security forcea in Kulachi area of district Dera Ismail Khan.

Four other terrorists were also arrested in the operation. They were reportedly planting an improvised explosive device (IED) in the area, when they were tracked successfully and apprehended.

Major Ishaq, aged 28,  had embraced martyrdom on November 22 during a search operation conducted over about the presence of terrorists in a hideout in Kulachi area of D.I. Khan in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa and other officials had attended the martyred officer’s funeral in Lahore. He was laid to rest with full military honours at the martyrs graveyard at Cavalry Ground,

The martyred officer hailed from Khushab and had left behind a widow and one-year-old son.

“We have a sacred duty at hand of cleansing & defending our motherland,” ISPR had tweeted after his martyrdom saying that his sacrifices will not go waste or be compromised.
