Thar coal power project to start power generation soon: energy minister

KARACHI: Sindh’s Minister for Energy Imtiaz Shaikh on Monday said that Thar coal power project will start power generation soon, ARY News reported.

Talking to media he said that Chairman People’s Party Bilawal Bhutto will inaugurate the project soon.

Provincial energy minister said that he held a meeting with the oil and gas companies and asked them about the jobs provided to the local people. The companies were also asked about their welfare development work in their areas of operation.

The minister said that the training development fund of these companies goes to the federal government.

Sindh’s energy minister said that the report about the wind energy is also summoned.

Imtiaz Shaikh said that the government will hold audit of the data provided by the private companies.

“In each districts, committees have been constituted to supervise development work in the area with deputy commissioners’ as project directors.

Earlier, Chief Minister of Sindh Murad Ali Shah had said that the Thar coal power project will become operational by this month.

Talking at a seminar in a university in Karachi the Sindh CM said, “The Thar coal power project is expected to start its production by this month. Sindh has resources to end the energy crisis in the country and the province with coal power and Renewable’ energy,” he added.

According to the work plan the project was scheduled to be completed by June 2019.
