Third ODI: Match abandoned due to rain

CENTURION: The third and final One Day International (ODI) between South Africa and India was abandoned due to rain here on Wednesday and the Proteas won the series 2-0, ARY News reports.

After winning the toss, Proteas Captain Quinton de Kock put his side to bat first.

The hosts scored 301 with the loss of 8 wickets in their 50 overs. The side had lost its three wickets with only 28 runs on the board but the 171 run partnership on the 4th wicket between AB de Villiers and Quinton de Kock helped the side past 300.

Quinton de Kock, again playing a Captain’s knock, score 101 runs and became the fifth player in history to score three consecutive centuries in ODIs. AB De Villiers scored 109 and David Miller contributed 56 runs.

Indian pacers Ishant Sharma and Mohammad Shami took 3 wickets each.

The visitors could not play a single ball and the match was abandoned due to rain. The Proteas sealed the series 2-0.

Quinton de Kock was named Player of the Series.
