Three more MQM-P lawmakers join Kamal-led PSP

KARACHI: A member of the National Assembly and two of the Sindh Assembly bade adieu to the Muttahida Qaumi Movement Pakistan (MQM-P) on Sunday to join the Pak Sarzameen Party (PSP).  

MNA Mehboob Alam and MPA Saifuddin Khalid and Muhammad Kamran announced to join the Mustafa Kamal-led PSP during a press conference here at Pakistan House.

The PSP chief and other party leaders were present on the occasion.

Speaking to the media, Kamal said his party will sweep 2018 polls in urban Sindh and invited Farooq Sattar and Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui, heads of PIB and Bahadurabad factions of the MQM-P, respectively, to join his party.

Sattar plays down MQM-P leaders’ defection to PSP

Earlier, MQM-P stalwart Farooq Sattar hinted at working out a formula to end internal rifts within the party to keep it united ahead of the upcoming general elections.

Speaking to the media at Lahore airport, he played down defections from his party to the PSP, saying party leaders’ jumping the ship will not make any difference as voters are clever enough to understand their switching of loyalties.

He said the MQM-P will also field candidates in Punjab in 2018 elections.

Sattar said many political parties are in touch with him for forging an alliance ahead of the coming polls.

Commenting on the issues facing the people of Sindh, he said no attention has been paid to the problems plaguing Sindh for the last 70 years.
