KARACHI: President Dr Arif Alvi is set to inaugurate a new train service, Dabheji Express, on the route between Karachi’s City Station and Dabheji on Oct 31 (tomorrow).

Addressing a press conference, he announced that denizens will travel by the new train for free on Nov 1.

The minister said the train is a gift from Prime Minister Imran Khan for the people of Karachi.

He said the government wants to facilitate labourers to travel home on time without being forced to sit on bus rooftops.

He said the federal government is ready to provide all required facilities for revival of Karachi Circular Railway project.  Five more trains will be launched in Sindh in the first 100 days of the present government, he added.

The minister said that railway is a backbone of China Pakistan Economic corridor (CPEC), adding that the number of freight trains will be increased from eight to fifteen.

He said the government plans to launch the Rehman Baba Expresses from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to Karachi for the poor. The train will operate on the main ML-1 line as Khushal Khan Express is not in a good condition and the department always remains concerned about it.
