Tribal jirgah departs for NWA after meeting Governor, Corps Commander

PESHAWAR: The grand jirgah of tribesmen has departed for North Waziristan Agency (NWA), after visiting Peshawar. Tribal elders have kicked off efforts for restoring peace in the region, within the given time limit of 15 days by the Government – ARY News reports.

The grand jirgah comprising of 60 elderly tribesmen, departed from here on Saturday. The jirgah held meetings with the Governor of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), Sardar Mehtab Abbasi and the Corps Commander Peshawar, Lieutenant General Khalid Rabbani.

Jirgah leader, Haji Sher Muhammad told that the Government has directed it to restore peace in North Waziristan, within 15 days.

It was further said that after a go-ahead by the Government, talks have been initiated for re-establishing peace in the region.

Haji Sher Muhammad said that nobody should try to cause harm to regional peace.

Moreover, he said that now the Government has opened a way for negotiations, damages will be discussed once peace is restored.
