Three criminals Mubashir Shareef and Riaz were executed in Jhang. The jail authorities arranged a meeting of the three convicts with their families in District Jail Jhang. The convicts were later hanged to death.
Mubashir and Shareef were handed death sentence by a court over kidnapping and killing a taxi driver in 1998, while Riaz had killed a man in a dispute in 1995.
Zafar Iqbal, a convict who killed his father, and Rab Nawaz who had given capital punishment for murdering a woman were hanged in Mianwali District Jail.
Two convicts, Fazal and Faisal were executed in Karachi Central Jail. The duo had killed a man Abdul Jabbar during a robbery in Korangi area of the city.
Malik Nadeem and Muhammad Javed were executed in Rawalpindi’s Adiala Jail. Zafar Iqbal was hanged to death in Multan Central Jail for raping and murdering a girl child. Muhammad Iqbal was hanged in Gujranwala Central Jail over a murder.
Faisalabad Central Jail also witnessed an execution as a death row prisoner Muhammad Nawaz was hanged to death for murdering a citizen over a minor dispute back in 1992.
