KARACHI: The ‘Do Darya’ food street overlooking the Arabia Sea is a must-visit destination for everyone who visits the city of lights. For Karachiites, it is the most favoured dining experience. But a sad allure glooms the city as reports of the much sought-out food street shutting down forever are circulating on the social media.

Since 2013 the situation has been quite tense between the restaurant owners at Do Darya and the Defence Housing Authority (DHA). Recently, news of shutting down all the restaurants at the food street has taken the world of social media by storm.

According to reports, the reason why the housing authority wants to have Do Darya vacated is the area was never declared commercial.

In 2010, the restaurants entered a licensing agreement with DHA, the agreement, which was for a period of two years, later some restaurants obtained a stay order from the Sindh High Court (SHC) for four years in 2014 which ends in May 2018.
