KARACHI: Police on Saturday arrested two suspects for allegedly raping a 27-year-old girl in Karachi’s Delhi Colony area, ARY News reported.

According to details, the police arrested two suspects namely Qaiser and Shahzad from the city’s Delhi Colony area for repeatedly raping and providing drugs to an orphan girl. A third suspect named Taimoor is still at large.

Police say the first suspect was arrested on the complaint of the victim’s mother who reportedly fought with him after he approached her and her daughter during a market visit.

The victim’s mother, in her statement, said that she was on a market visit when the one of the suspects approached them and started harassing her daughter upon which they cried for help which resulted in gathering of a crowd and ultimately the police.

The police questioned the suspect and arrested a second suspect, a rickshaw driver, on his indication.

Initial investigation revealed that the trio befriended the girl by providing her drugs at her home in her mother’s absence. Once intoxicated, they used to take her in a rickshaw for a group sexual assault.

Sources say, the police is investigating the suspects’ involvement in other cases of sexual assault and drug trade.

A CCTV footage obtained from near the victim’s house revealed that on October 23, the trio took her and then left her outside her house in unconscious condition after sexual assault.

The victim’s mother maintained that she is a widow and earns her livelihood by working as a maid in different households, adding that the suspects used to approach her daughter in her absence.

Police is conducting raids for arrest of the third suspect.
