Two separate road crashes claim 14 lives

UPPER DIR: At least 10 people died and 12 others were injured when an ‘ill-fated’ passenger bus plunged into a deep ravine in Gujjar area of Upper Dir near Lowari top in early hours of Sunday, ARY News reported.

The vehicle was reportedly enroute to Rawalpindi from Chitral.

According to eye witnesses’ account, the passenger fell into a ditch while maneuvering near Lowari Top.

Rescue agencies after reaching the spot, shifted injured to District Headquarter Hospital Upper Dir and an emergency has been declared at hospitals in Upper Dir.

However, the names of injured and dead could not be ascertained.

Separately in Lahore, four members of a family died and three other people injured in a cylinder explosion in Rickshaw when a truck collided with it on Aamir Road of the city.

According to police, Rickshaw driver Yaqoob alias Mithu along with his three sons died in result of tragic mishap.

The police sources further confirmed that a truck hit the rickshaw in result of which an installed gas-cylinder exploded, erupting fire which engulfed the rickshaw.

Four people of a family died due to burn injuries while the driver’s wife aged 40 and a sister-in-law aged 35 suffered burn injuries. The women were shifted to Mayo hospital for medical assistance.
