Two women of a family gang-raped near Multan’s picnic point

MULTAN: Two women of a family were allegedly ganged raped by five men in an area on the outskirts of Multan, ARY News reported on Friday.

Police said five armed men intercepted the vehicle of a family who had come at Head Muhammad Wala for a picnic, depriving them of cash, mobile phones and other valuables. Later, they took the two women off the vehicle at gunpoint and subjected them to sexual abuse.

The police said they have registered First Information Report (FIR) of the incident against five unidentified accused under the relevant sections of criminal law over charges of gang-rape and robbery. An investigation into the incident have been launched after collecting evidences from the spot, police said. Efforts were underway to nab the perpetrators.

A day before, a man had set himself on fire in Faisalabad as protest after Athara Hazari police set free the accused who had allegedly raped his wife.

According to media reports, 28-year-old Safdar Hussain set himself on fire for allegedly release of the accused involved in robbery and gang rape of his wife in Jhang.

The victim was shifted to Faisalabad’s Allied Hospital where doctors said he was in precarious condition due to 70 percent burn wounds on his body.
