Zimbabwe needed just two runs from securing a hard-earned victory when the West Indies bowler Kemo Paul “mankaded” the Zimbabwe batsman Kundai Matigimu.

“Mankad” takes place when the bowler runs out the batsman while running to the popping crease to deliver the ball.

West Indies scored 226/9 in their 50 overs with Shamar Springer being the top scorer with 61 runs from 71 balls while Tevin Imlach scored 31 runs from 64 balls. Gidron Pope contributed 30 runs with the bat.

Rugare Magarira took three wickets for the Zimbabwe while Wesley Madhevere grabbed two wickets.

In reply, the Zimbabwe side fell two runs short of winning the match as they were dismissed on 224 runs in 49.0 overs.

Shaun Snyder made 52 runs from 71 balls while Adam Keefe contributed 43 runs from 47 balls for the team. Jeremy Ives made 37 runs from 68 balls.

Alzarri Joseph took four wickets for the team while Shamar Springer took two wickets.

In the other matches, Bangladesh thumped Namibia by eight wickets while South Africa outperformed Scotland by 10 wickets.
