We are united to face challenges: Gen Sharif

RAWALPINDI: The Corps Commanders Conference of Pakistan Army presided over by Chief of Army Staff Gen. Raheel Sharif concluded at army’s General Headquarters in Rawalpindi, ARY News reported Wednesday.

According to Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR), the military’s public affairs wing, the conference imposed confidence military’s preparations and professional capabilities. The COAS said, “We are united to face challenges facing the country. We will not allow deterioration of overall situation for a handful of people.”

ISPR spokesman said security situation at Pak-Afghan border and matters of various development projects were also discussed at the meeting.

Sources told that matters pertaining to talks between the government and the Taliban also came in discussion. The conference resolved to back government-Taliban dialogue process.

The sources informed that the conference also deliberated upon the criticism leveled on army and ensuing reservations in different ranks in its wake. Sources told that the stand of COAS Army Chief Gen. Raheel Sharif on the issue was also supported by the conference.
