NEW DELHI: An Indian investigation agency has admitted that the two arrested Pakistani youth, earlier proclaimed to be facilitators and abettors in Uri attack, are innocents, ARY News reported.

Indian media reported that the Pakistani boys, Faisal Hussain Awan and Ahsan Khursheed of Azad Jammu & Kashmir, are innocents as Indian investigation agency, National Investigation Agency, ends up giving them clean-chit.

Last year in September, seventeen Indian soldiers were killed during a pre-dawn attack on the heavily fortified army base which is located 100 kilometers west of Srinagar. This was the worst such attack for years in the restive region which has brutal repression and other atrocities.

The case has been closed after failing to provide supporting evidence to the claim that the boys facilitated the Uri attack. The duo are likely to get released very soon, Indian media reported. They were arrested in September last year after the attack.

The NIA decided to file the closure report after its probe could not substantiate the charges.

The local media reported that process of returning the boys will be decided by the foreign ministry of India and they would be sent back to Pakistan as a goodwill gesture.

This should be noted that earlier India had alleged that the Pakistani boys, who mistakenly crossed the border to reach India, were facilitators of terrorists in Uri attack.
