PESHAWAR: Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) Minister for Public Health Engineering Shah Farman on Tuesday insulted his fellow female lawmaker Nighat Orakzai on the floor of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa assembly, ARY News reported.

Shah Farman was speaking on the issue of  the disbursement of public funds amidst the opposition’s protest over the issue when Pakistan People’s Party MPA Nighat Orakzai interrupted his address to allege that a significant amount of development funds were diverted to Nowshera (Chief Minister Pervez Khattak’s constituency) upon which Shah Farman shouted at her and asked her to stay silent in a very insulting manner.

Chairman PPP Bilawal Bhutto Zardari condemned what he termed ‘the insulting misbehavior of PTI Minister towards PPP’s  Nighat Orakzai on the floor of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Assembly.

“The PPP Chairman made it clear that his party won’t tolerate insult or abusive language towards women whether in Assembly or outside,” said the statement issued by the party.

Bilawal said that attitude of provincial ministers in KP Assembly was very sad and Imran Khan should bridle such people in his party.

The incident was widely condemned on social media too and a number of concerned citizens and journalists expressed their anger over Shah Farman’s behaviour.

PTI Chairman Imran Khan too condemned the incident but maintained that Shah Farman has apologised and his party will take action against anyone who insults women in future.
