In a shocking incident, a video has gone viral on social media showing a Spirit Airlines employee using ‘tape’ to make repairs on an aircraft’s wing just moments before take-off.

A TikTok user @myhoneysmacks, who hails from Alabama, managed to capture the maintenance repair from her window seat raising concerns among passengers about the safety of air travel and the protocols in place for aircraft maintenance.

“I don’t care if it is aviation airplane tape or nothing, the fact that you have to tape the plane together and then you doing it while people are on the flight like we cannot see you. That’s the reason why I will not fly with Spirit, now Southwest I’ll do, but Spirit no sir.”, the TikToker said in her 37-second video.

“After a while, they’re going to need a fresh new roll of tape, their tapes gonna lose all its stickiness, you flying all around the world and you got tape holding it together. Don’t even worry about it, I won’t be booking with you,” she added.

According to experts in the aviation industry, the tape used in the video is known as speed tape and can withstand speeds of up to 600 mph and extreme environmental changes when properly applied.

However, it is important to note that speed tape is only intended for specific repairs and should not be used as a permanent fix for any issues with an aircraft.
