KARACHI: Several politicians across the country are facing hostile public while visiting their constituencies during the ongoing election campaign.

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf leader Arif Alvi found himself in a similar situation while campaigning in the NA-247 constituency. Alvi, who is also the party’s Sindh president, was elected from the constituency in 2013 general elections.

An angry resident confronted him asking the lawmaker has done for the year, and is visiting after five years to seek vote. “Do you recognise me, you even gave me a certificate,” asked the voter as Alvi replied in the affirmative.

“Then why are you visiting after five years? What have you done for us?” he asked angrily.

Alvi attempted to convince him, but was unable to answer the acrid questions and moved away continuing on with his campaign.

NA-247 lies in Karachi south and includes several posh localities such as Clifton and Defence Housing Autority. However, the area faces several issues such as an acute water crisis and provision of amenities.
