Waseem Akram withdraws road rage firing case

KARACHI: Waseem Akram on Tuesday during the court hearing withdrew his complaint he had filed two years ago about firing on his car in Karachi.

Pakistan’s former cricket captain, Akram, appeared before the court today and said the case was filed due to a misunderstanding between the parties and he did not wish to pursue the case further.

“Both parties have reached to an amicable agreement and I don’t want to pursue the matter in court,” he added.

The court granted the request to terminate the case.

The court, last week had issued a bailable arrest warrant for Akram over not appearing in court to record his statement.

The cricketer had registered a FIR in August, 2015, at Bahadurabad Police Station against three unidentified men in a case of road rage shooting.

He had alleged that he had been shot at on Karachi’s Karsaz Road while he was on his way to the National Stadium.
