WATCH: Zebra enters neighbourhood after escaping zoo

A video of a zebra roaming in a neighbourhood after escaping zoo in South Korea is going viral on Instagram.

The video, shared on the visual-sharing application by Now This News, showed the zebra – who escaped from the zoo in South Korea’s capital Seoul – walking in a residential area. 

The rescue workers tranquilized the animal and took it back with them.

The video has more than 5,000 likes. Instagram users lambasted the zoo culture and called for the animal’s release into the wild.

A user wrote, “They should have set it free in the wild where it should have been in the first place. Poor thing. Now it’s once again trapped like a prisoner for other people’s amusement forever.💔”

A second added, “This is horrible, let the animal free man. This is why the animal leave just because they want freedom.” A third stated, “Wrong in so many ways -the abuse we bestow on animals. We are a cruel species.”

It is pertinent to mention that animals find their way to residential areas after escaping from zoos and recreational centres.

Earlier, zookeepers and a maintenance worker recaptured a crocodile causing mayhem on a highway in the United States after escaping a zoo van.

According to St Augustine Alligator Farm, the crocodile was being transported by a van when it broke out of a window on a Florida highway.

A video, shared on Facebook and Twitter after the escape, showed at least three zookeepers, including two women, trying to capture the crocodile on the side of the road.

According to a report, the crocodile weighed around 150 lbs.
