Weekly inflation records slight increase

ISLAMABAD: The Sensitive Price Index (SPI) for the combined group has been increased by 0.04 per cent to 10.13 per cent for the week ended on June 5, ARY News reported.

The weekly Sensitive Price Indicator (SPI) with base 2007-2008=100 covering 17 urban centers and 53 essential items for all income groups and combined has been computed by Pakistan Bureau Statics (PBS).

The SPI for the week ended on June 5 for the lowest income group up to Rs 8,000 registered increase of 0.03 per cent as compared to the previous week.

The SPI for the week which ended on in the above mentioned group was recorded at 201.82 points against 201.76 points registered in the previous week.

According to PBS, as compared to the last week, the SPI for the income groups from Rs 8001- 12,000, 12,001-18,000, 18001-35,000 and above Rs.35000 increased by 0.04 for all groups.

During the week under review average prices of 19 items registered increase, while that of 12 items decrease with the remaining 22 items’ prices unchanged.

The 19 items which recorded increase in their average prices included milk powdered (Nido), potatoes, long cloth ,shirting, lawn, egg, red chillies powder loose, milk fresh, mash pulse washed ,curd, gur, sugar, L.P.G.
