Former Pakistan’s express pacer and captain, Waqar Younis is looking forward to the big game between Pakistan and India on June 4 of Champions Trophy. He believes that the whole world will be in tension on that day.

“I think not only me, but many people will be in tension, whole India will be in tension, whole Pakistan will be in tension, whole world will be in tension,” he said while talking to ARY News. “Because it will probably be the biggest match of the tournament,” he added.

“Pakistan and India do not play against each other that much, which makes this game far more important,” he stated.

On a question regarding bench strength and the number of youngsters in the team, Waqar told that experience does not really come into account when there is an Indo-Pak clash.

“When you play against India, emotions count more than experience, of course skill set is important against them, you should be well prepared,” he told.

“Pakistan have youngsters like Shadab (Khan), Hasan Ali in their ranks, Haris Sohail making a comeback, which makes Pakistan’s bench quite strong,” he added.

Waqar talked about Umar Akmal and Ahmed Shehzad, the duo who he recommended to drop on disciplinary grounds after World T20 2016. Shehzad has made comeback in the team but Umar Akmal is dropped from the team due to poor fitness.

“We all know that both (Ahmed Shehzad and Umar Akmal) are extremely talented, but it is unfortunate the way they have dealt their cricket, they could have done a lot better,” he said. “Especially Umar Akmal, the recent episode shouldn’t have taken place, it has defamed him as well as the country.”
