Woman fights off mobile phone snatcher, video goes viral

A video of a woman fighting off a mobile phone snatcher is going viral on social media platforms.

The viral video showed the woman, a resident of the Tikri area, locking horns with the alleged snatcher in the Badarpur area of India’s capital city New Delhi. She grabbed the man’s T-shirt and her phone fell to the ground. The suspect made a run for it.

An Indian news agency reported that Esha Pandey, the District Commission of Police (southeast), said they got a call about the incident around 11:30 pm on September 4.

The cop added the incident happened when she was paying a visit to her friend at Tajpur Pahari, adding that the woman showed bravery and fought off the suspect.

A case under sections 379 (theft), 356 (assault or criminal force in attempt to commit theft of property carried by a person) and 511 (attempting to commit offences punishable with imprisonment for life or other imprisonment) were filed against the alleged mugger.
