World Bank reviews development projects in Sindh

KARACHI: A high-level World Bank delegation has reviewed its 14 ongoing projects valued $4.1 billion in Sindh today on 2 April 2026, during a meeting at the Chief Minister’s House.
The world Bank delegation described the construction of Karachi’s largest landfill site as a significant milestone during a review of development projects.

The landfill project is part of the Solid Waste Emergency and Efficiency Project (SWEEP), which aims to improve waste management systems in Karachi.
The meeting was led by Senior Minister for Information and Transport Sharjeel Memon and attended by several provincial ministers, senior bureaucrats and planning officials.
From World Bank side, Operation Manager Gailius Draugelis, Hina Saleem, and Kamran Akbar attended in person.
Country Director Bolormaa Amgaabazar and Water Specialist Francois Onimus, along with 24 other experts, joined via video link.
