World's famous explorer Mike Horn shares his experience of ongoing K2 expedition

In his tweet, Horn said “In very thick snow and bad weather we nearly reached 6000m, had to turn back due to avalanche danger, could sky down”

“Over 6 weeks we have traveled many miles, seen many things and come to the end of the road. Now we walked to K2 basecamp,” he said in a Facebook post here. Mike Horn became famous in 2001 after completing a solo journey around the equator without motorised transport. In 2004 he completed a two-year, 3-month solo circumnavigation of the Arctic Circle.

Over 6 weeks we have traveled many miles, seen many things and come to the end of the road. Now we walked to K2 basecamp. During 2010 and 2011, he conducted motivational sessions for the Indian Cricket Team at the request of its coach, Gary Kirsten. The team went on to win the 2011 Cricket World Cup for the second time after 28 years.
