Youm-e-Ashur observed with due solemnity, reverence

KARACHI: Amid stringent security, Muslims all over Pakistan observed Youm-e-Ashur, the 10th of Muharram, on Friday to pay tributes to Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) and his devoted companions for their great sacrifice in Karbala.

Multilayered security was deployed with mobile phone services partially suspended and processions routes were sealed to provide foolproof security cover to mourners participating in processions and gatherings with Alam (flags), and Tazia (replicas of the mausoleum of Hazrat Imam Hussain in Karbala) across the country.

Mourning events were held as Ulema and Zakireen highlight the philosophy and teachings of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) and various aspects of the tragedy of Karbala.

In Karachi, small and big Alam, Zuljinah and Taazia processions were taken out from different parts of the city.

The main procession was taken out from Nishter Park and which culminated at Imam Bargh Hussania Irania Kharadar in the evening after passing through its traditional routes.

Heavy contingents of police were deployed along the routes of processions and around Imam Bargahs to ensure the day passes off without any untoward incident.

Meanwhile, Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah visited the route of main mourning procession in Sadder and MA Jinnah Road in Karachi and inspected security arrangements.

He met with organizers of the procession and directed officials concerned to provide all facilities.

In Lahore, the processions of the 10th Muharram-ul-Haram were taken out from different parts of the city.

Around midnight last night, the main procession of 10th Muharram-ul-Haram started from Nisar Haveli, inside Mochi Gate, which concluded at Karbala Gaamay Shah, after passing through its traditional route inside the Lahore Walled City.

Thousands of policemen and personnel of other law enforcement agencies were deputed along the routes of all processions to avoid any untoward incident while CCTV cameras were also installed to monitor the main processions.

Meanwhile, a monitoring cell was set up at the IG Office Lahore to monitor the processions.

In Peshawar, the main Alam and Zuljinnah procession of 10th Muharram was taken out from Imambargah Alamdar-e Karbala Qissa Khawani Bazaar after Friday prayers.

Several other processions were also been taken out from other Imambargahs which joined the main procession.

The processions after passing through their routes culminated at its starting point in the evening. Tight security measures were taken to ensure peace in the provincial capital.

Similarly, Alam and Zuljinnah processions were taken out in Kohat, Bannu, Hangu, Lakki Marwat, Parachinar, D.I.Khan and other cities and towns of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

In Quetta, the main procession was taken out from Rehmat Ullah chowk Alamdar road. The procession after passing through its traditional routes culminated at Alamdar road.

In Azad Kashmir, small and big Alam, Zuljinah and Taazia processions were taken out in all 10 districts.

In Muzaffarabad, main procession were out from Central Imam Bargah which culminated at the same place after Maghrib prayer.

In Gilgit, the main Ashur procession started from Jama Imamia mosque at 8 am which after passing through traditional route culminated at the same place at 4:30 pm.
