Youm-e-Umer Farooq (R.A) observed with utmost sanctity

KARACHI: The day of martyrdom of the 2nd Caliph of the Muslims, Hazrat Umer Farooq (R.A) was observed with utmost respect and sanctity throughout the country on Wednesday 1st Muharram ul Haram, while Ahle Sunnat Wal Jamat (ASWJ) demanded the Government to announce an official holiday on this day – ARY News reports.

According to details, the new Islamic Year begins with the martyrdom of Hazrat Umer Farooq (R.A), who was martyred on 1st Muharram while he was offering Salat. Rallies were organized countrywide in order to enlighten the personality and religious services of the 2nd Caliph of the Muslims.

On this occasion, strict security measures were taken and additional contingents of police and Rangers were deployed at the paths of the processions and rallies.

With respect to the occasion, ASWJ also organized a rally here in Karachi at which the speakers demanded the Government to announce official holidays on account of the martyrdom of all the 4 Caliphs of the Muslims.

The speakers at the rally stated that the lifestyle of Hazrat Umer Farooq (R.A) is a source of guidance for the rulers.

The rally led its way from Lasbella chowk to Regal chowk, Saddar. Participants of the rally were carrying banners and placards displaying the virtues and righteousness of Hazrat Umer Farooq (R.A).

Upon reaching Regal chowk, ASWJ leader Allama Aurangzeb Farooqi demanded the Federal Government to announce an official holiday on this occasion likewise the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Government.

The speakers said that ASWJ is ready to play every possible role to end sectarian target-killing and maintaining inter-faith harmony amongst all schools of thought.

Moreover, the ASWJ leaders also announced to organize a procession on 10th Muharram ul Haram with respect to the martyrdom of Hazrat Imam Hussain (R.A).

Numerous such processions and rallies were organized in all parts of the country on this occasion, in which the local leaders addressed the participants and elaborated the lifespan of Hazrat Umer Farooq (R.A).
