KARACHI: The Sindh Young Nurses Association (SYNA) has announced to stage a sit-in protest in Karachi for approval of increase in salaries of nurses and other demands, ARY News reported.

“The strike will be carried out from April 29 in hospitals of Sindh and a protest sit-in will be staged at the Karachi Press Club,” said young nurses.

They said they had been raising voice for approval of their demands since 2017, but to no avail.

The SYNA said the Sindh government had been using delaying tactics. They said service structure should be implemented and health professional allowance should be provided.

The young nurses said their demands including raise in salaries should be accepted.

On Feb 27, while pressing for arranging a meeting with Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah, protesting young doctors had refused to trust the assurance extended by Advisor to Chief Minister Sindh for Information and Law Barrister Murtaza Wahab.

The government had assured to issue an official notification after cabinet approval regarding demands of the doctors, but it could not materialise.

On the other hand, the government sources had said negotiations failed because of doctors’ continued strike.

The Young Doctors Association (YDA) had said they had asked the CM’s advisor to schedule a meeting with the Sindh CM. The YDA had said they could not end their strike just on the assurance given by Murtaza Wahab.
