According to details, four persons intercepted a youth named Zafar Shehzad here, while he was passing by on his motorcycle. The assailants brutally thrashed Shehzad with batons and tried to burn him alive after sprinkling petrol on him.
Shehzad barely escaped the wrath of attackers and jumped into a nearby canal to save his life.
The attackers set alight Shehzad’s bike and fled the scene.
The brother of injured youth told that yesterday Zafar Shehzad had a quarrel with a man named Bilal.
Sources told that the incident was an outcome of longstanding enmity between the two, while police have initiated investigations into the matter.
