FULL MATCH HIGHLIGHTS AT BOTTOM OF THE STORY

Zalmi needed 7 runs off last over but Nawaz over only saw a four and then the match was all about the 2 runs which the bowler along with his skipper Sarfraz Ahmed did not allow them to make and Quetta won the match by a single-run. Three wickets fell in the over.

Earlier, a 139-run partnership between Mohammad Hafeez and David Malan almost saw Zalmi near the target despite an early loss of two wickets and it seemed that the side will easily chase the 201 run target.

A late Afridi onslaught almost saw Peshawar Zalmi home but not before Mohammad Nawaz’s last over in which he saved 6 runs.

Earlier Kevin Pietersen and Ahmed Shahzad took every Zalmi bowler to task. Ahmed Shahzad hits 71 off 38 balls. Pietersen scored 40 off 22 balls and Quetta were at a time 121-2 in 9.6 overs but after the duo’s dismissal, none of the Gladiators’ batsman could keep the boundaries coming as they were when the lethal pair was in the middle.

Peshawar Zalmi won the toss and elected to bowl first against Quetta Gladiators.

Zalmi and Gladiators emerged as the top two teams in the league. Loser of this game will have another chance with the winner of the second play-off which is between the number three and number four teams on points table, Islamabad United and Karachi Kings.
