Zulfikar Ali Bhutto's 86th birth anniversary today

The 86th birth anniversary of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) founder Zulfikar Ali Bhutto is being celebrated across the country today.

Zulfikar Ali Bhutto was born on 5th January 1928 in Larkana to an influential family. He started his political career at the age of 30 when he became the youngest minister in the government of military dictator General Ayub Khan.

He served as the Foreign Minister of Pakistan and advisor to Ayub Khan during the 1965 war against India. He displayed his abilities to the world during his tenure. He laid the foundations of PPP in 1967 and initiated a new phase in the revolutionary struggle in the country by labeling the people as the nation's strength.

After the fall of Dhaka in 1971, he became the President of Pakistan. He also presented the constitution in 1973 and is considered the greatest achievement in his political career. He was elected as the Prime Minister on 13th August 1973.

He also laid the foundations of a nuclear program in the country.

Zulfikar Ali Bhutto started his strategies to form a Muslim block in order for the Muslim states to be given a respectable status in the world. Not only he promoted bilateral ties amongst the Muslim states, he also convinced the Heads of States to join the block. He could not fulfill his dreams and his Government was overthrown by the military.

General Zia-ul-Haq imposed Martial Law on 5th July 1977 and removed Bhutto from his position. Zulfikar Ali Bhutto was hanged on 4th April 1979 on murder charges of Nawab Ahmad Khan Kasuri.

Zulfikar Ali Bhutto may not be alive today but is still living in the hearts of the Pakistani people.
