Zulfiqar Mirza confronted the law enforcement agencies after they tried to arrest one of his closest aides. He and his supporters ransacked the police station and closed the commercial centres of the city by force.
Police had sealed all routes leading to Mirza’s farmhouse for his arrest.
The PPP leader had earlier filed a petition seeking protective bail in a court. His petition was accepted.
His counsel had pleaded to the court to provide his client protective bail as he is feared to be killed in the same fashion as Murtaza Bhutto.
The court has ordered Mirza to appear in the hearing today. Police will be ordered to arrest the PPP leader if he refuses to appear in the hearing.
However, sources have reported that Mirza has refused to appear before the court today.
