Altaf condemns attack on Taseer's anniversary vigil

KARACHI: Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) chief Altaf Hussain on Monday condemned the attack on the vigil to mark the death anniversary of former Punjab governor Salman Taseer, ARY News reported.

MQM chief called for strict action against the rioters attacking peaceful civilians holding vigil in the memory of Salman Taseer.

He was of the view that the nation shall come out against the terrorists adding that it is not difficult to catch the culprits since their ‘extremist vandalism’ had been caught on camera.

Hussain further demanded the trial of the culprits in special trial courts established to punish terrorists.

Earlier, MQM Rabita Committee too condemned the incident in strong words by saying that all political parties and civil society should speak up against the incident.

The party’s top committee lamented the fact that the miscreants not only attacked the peaceful vigil but also harassed reporters, photographers covering the event and misbehaved with women.

The Incident

Earlier, baton wielding miscreants attacked civil society members and journalists during a candlelight vigil held here to mark the death anniversary of former Punjab Governor Salman Taseer, who was shot and killed by his own guard, Mumtaz Qadri in December 2010 in Islamabad.
