Asad Umar targets MQM with extortion claim

ISLAMABAD/KARACHI: Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) central leader, Asad Umar on Wednesday accused Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) of demanding extortion from the Chairman of Privatization Commission, Zubair Umar a few years ago, ARY News reported.

In his conversation with anchorperson Kashif Abbasi during ARY News program ‘Off the Record’, Asad Umar accused MQM of demanding extortion sum from his brother and Chairman of Privatization Commission, Zubair Umar, three years ago.

In his exclusive word with ARY News, Zubair Umar also confirmed to have received the ‘Bhatta Parchi’ – a note usually sent to someone to provide the protection money.

He added that he received the ‘note’ three years ago in Karachi and was threatened of dire consequences in case of non-payment.

However, the chairman of Privatization Commission declined to name the party.
