PAF pilot Marium Mukhtar laid to rest in Karachi

KARACHI/MIANWALI: Pakistan Air Force (PAF) female pilot Marium Mukhtar, who was killed in a jet crash, was laid to rest with full military honors on Wednesday, ARY News reported.

A C-130 aircraft carried the dead body of Flying Officer Marium Mukhtar to Faisal Base, where her funeral prayers were offered.

Scores of aviation officers including Chief of Air Staff, Air Chief Marshal Sohail Aman attended the prayers of the female pilot.

She was laid to rest with full military honors at Malir Cantt graveyard.

Flying Officer Marium Mukhtar hailed from Karachi, who became the first Pakistani female pilot to embrace martyrdom.

An F-7PG of PAF crashed in Kandian area of Bhakra near Mianwali resulting in the martyrdom of Flying Officer Marium Mukhtar, whereas Squadron Leader Saqib Abbasi was wounded during the incident.

The PAF spokesman stated that the aircraft developed problems but the pilots managed to divert the jet away from populated area.

The two pilots managed to eject themselves from the aircraft but sustained injuries.

No casualties were reported from the populated areas but Mukhtar was severely injured in the crash and succumbed to her wounds on way to hospital.
