HRCP declares Christian couple of Kot Radha Kishan as innocent

TOP NEWS

According to details, a delegation of the HRCP reached Kot Radha Kishan to investigate the matter of brutal killing of a Christian couple (Shyman Bibi and Sajjad Nasir),  who were beaten to death by a enraged mob and later their bodies were thrown into a brick-kiln.

The delegation found no evidence of desecration of the Holy Quran at the hands of the couple, while witnesses told that the deceased man had a financial dispute with the kiln owner, at which the owner severely tortured him resulting in his death.

HRCP officials were further told that the kiln owner, for the sake of giving another turn to the case, spread the rumor of desecration of the Holy Quran and soon a mob gathered.

Desecration of the Quran is considered a “nonpardonable” offense and punishable by death or life imprisonment under Pakistan’s anti-blasphemy law.

Witnesses said that police arrived at the spot and tried to take the accused into custody, but the kiln workers upon the directives of their owner also tortured the policemen.

The HRCP has said that it does not want to influence the probe, yet it will fully voice concerns over the brutal killing of two human beings and will bring facts before the people.

On the other hand, the anti-terrorism court (ATC) has sent 39 accused to jail on a 14-day judicial remand for killing the husband and wife and burning their bodies.
