Journalist bodies protest attack on ARY News’ Islamabad office

The attack on the office of one of the most prestigious media outlets of the country greatly distressed the journalist fraternity, which staged demonstrations in different cities today.

One such protest was held in Lahore that was attended by the representatives of Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists (PFUJ), Lahore Press Club, and Electronic Media Reporters Association.

The journalists termed news channels as ‘eyes and ears’ of the society and criticized the government for its failure to ensure safety of media outlets.

They demanded the authorities to beef up security around media houses.

Cash reward for security guards who foiled the attack

The security guards who foiled yesterday’s attack on ARY News’ Islamabad bureau office were given a cash reward on behalf of the President and CEO of ARY Network, Mr. Salman Iqbal.

Bureau chief Sabir Shakir at a simple ceremony held at ARY News Islamabad office presented cash prize to the security guards – Muhammad Ashraf and Awais – who foiled the attack on Wednesday and demonstrated valour by forcing the terrorists to flee away, before they could barge into the office and cause havoc.

On the occasion, senior manager operations and other staff was present, who thanked the guards and praised their bravery and sense of duty.
