She came, she saw and she conquered. Who hasn’t heard of Madhuri Dixit? At a time when the Indian film industry lacked choreographers and advanced dance moves, Madhuri enchanted everyone with her grooving skills and stellar acting talent. It was she who made songs interesting due to the way she shook her leg to the lyrics and the beat of the music.
Madhuri was born in Maharashtra’s city of Mumbai on 15th May 1967. Madhuri showed interest in arts as early on as at the age of three as she trained in dancing. Since an early age, Madhuri dreamt of becoming a famous actress one day and grace the silver screen. She started on her path to national fame and glory with her debut film Ayodh in 1984. However, it was her 1988 film Tezaab which propelled her to fame and won her acclaim as an actress of note. Tezaab, which went on to become a hit, included Anil Kapoor in the cast.
Once she established herself as an actress of note with the help of Tezaab, Dixit was able to follow up her success with yet another hit film, Dil with Aamir Khan in 1990. For her performance in Dil, Madhuri won the prestigious award for Best Actress. Basking in glory and success after these two successful films, Madhuri was able to deliver another hit with leading actors Sanjay Dutt and Salman Khan in Saajan.
Madhuri’s 1992 film Beta became her biggest success as the movie notched an astounding number of five Filmfare awards, one of which included a Best Actress award for Madhuri. However, it was her song Dhak Dhak Karne Laga which mesmerized the audience to no end. Madhuri’s ecstatic dance moves coupled with the fantastic song, drove fans crazily in love with her and her admirers swelled in number after the release of the film.
