PM Sharif to run govt affairs via Skype from London

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif will be the first premier in the country’s history to address cabinet meetings and other important conferences through video link, ARY News reported.

The decision to this effect was taken in a high-level meeting, attended by Finance Minister Ishaq Dar and Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif at the Prime Minister House.

The meeting decided to get nod of the national budget via Skype from the premier. The PM would also hold budget meeting via video conferencing. The  Pakistan High Commission has been directed to take measures for the video-link conference.

Mr. Sharif is currently in London for open heart surgery.  A spokesman for the prime minister house said the surgery would be carried out on Tuesday morning.

Prime Minister Sharif’s daughter Maryam Nawaz also tweeted about PM’s health condition, saying: “PM in 2011 had a cardiac procedure called ‘Atrial Fibrillation Ablation’, during which certain complications occurred resulting in….Perforation of heart which was in turn treated by open heart surgery.”

She added: “The team of cardiologists & cardiac surgeons after thorough examination. Scans & tests, have decided to go for an open heart surgery. He will be on specific medication for the next 3 days before his surgery on Tues.

“The recovery period & hospital stay will be one week & he will travel Insha’Allah back to Pak as soon as the doctors allow. Prayers needed.”

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has extended best wishes to Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif for his open-heart surgery.

“My best wishes to PM Nawaz Sharif Sahab for his open heart surgery on Tuesday. And for his speedy recovery & good health,” tweeted Narendra Modi.
