Addressing a press conference here, Dr Tahir ul Qadri said a caravan of 70 buses was ready to move to Lahore for the proceedings of the Day of Martyrs on August 10, Punjab Police intercepted it and forced the PAT workers to return to their homes and not to lead forth.
After a denial by the peaceful innocent workers, police thrashed them and fired at them. He also, ‘police surrounded the Minhaj ul Quran Secretariat and residence for it wanted to kill him and his family members, and to capture the organizational record’.
Qadri thanked media to reach out to every spot, within a couple of minutes and to broadcast reality of the government.
He said that police is victimizing the innocent workers who are coming for the recitation of Holy Quran on the Day of Martyrs, for sending their blessings and paying tribute to the martyrs of June 17 Model Town incident and those of Pakistan Army who laid their lives during the operation Zarb-e-Azb.
The PAT chief said, ‘we are peaceful and democratic people, who believe in struggling academically, theologically, spiritually and democratically’.
He also declared the Chief Minister of Punjab, Shahbaz Sharif to be responsible of the 15 martyrs of the PAT, including the one killed today in Bhakkar.
Moreover, Dr Tahir ul Qadri asked the Government of Punjab to remove the blockades and let the people participate in the Martyrs Day, adding, ‘I assure you that no violent instance would take place’.
