PTI, coalition partners sweep senate polls from KP

According to initial details, PTI won 6 seats in senate while PML-N secured two, Jamaat-e-Islami (JI), Jamiat-e-Ulema-e-Islam (F) and Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and Awami National Party got one of their members elected to senate from KP.

-The new senators-

Chief of Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Sirajul Haq, JUI-F leader Ata-ur-Rehman, PPP’s Khanzada Khan, PML-N’s Salahuddin Tirmizi, PTI’s Moshin Aziz, Shibli Faraz and  Liaquat Tarkai  secured general seats from KP.

PTI’s Noman Wazir and PML-N’s Javed Abbasi were elected on seats reserved for technocrats.

The two reserved seats for women will be occupied by PTI’s Samina Abid and ANP’s Sitara Ayaz.

The seat for minorities was grabbed by PTI’s John Kenneth Williams.

All the members of KP provincial assembly took part in the voting except the disgruntled PTI  member Javed Naseem.

Javed Naseem did not appear after being stripped of his party membership by PTI chief Imran Khan for supporting a rival candidate in senate elections.
