Sindh warns of terror attack during 7-11 Muharram

KARACHI: The Sindh government has issued warning over security threats from 7th to 11th of Muharram in Karachi, ARY News reported.

Contingent of army will take over security charge of the city from Saturday. Sindh Home Ministry has issued alert to the relevant agencies, citing terror threat in the provincial capital.

The home secretary has warned that terrorist might carry out a foul play using rescue vehicles and asked the Rangers and police keep strict vigilance on all such vehicles to prevent any untoward incident.

At least 14,000 security personnel will perform duties to guard processions on Ashura.

Police have devised a plan for providing security to Majalis and processions on Ashura. Around 600 processions will be taken out on occasion of Ashura while 318 of them are declared sensitive for security reasons.

Of the 5,395 Majalis, 2,500 are declared sensitive owing to terror threats.
