Dead bodies of two picnickers drowned at Hawke’s Bay, retrieved

KARACHI: The dead bodies of two young men drowned on Sunday at Hawke’s Bay beach retrieved from the sea, rescue sources said.

The two deceased have been identified as Faraz 19, a resident of F.B. Area, and Osama, a native of Chitral.

The dead bodies have been transferred to Edhi morgue, rescue officials said.

A family had gone to the beach for a picnic on the second day of Eid. The picnic turned into a tragedy after two youth of the family drowned in the deep sea.

Rescue officials reached the site of the incident and launched search for the two drowning youngsters. An Edhi spokesman said that the two youth drowned while swimming at the sunset point.

Around five deep-sea divers took part in the rescue operation to retrieve the bodies.

Residents flocked to various recreational areas on the second day of Eid, as weather turned pleasant in the metropolis switching between cloudy and sunny.

In September, twelve people belonging to a single family died by drowning at Hawke’s Bay beach. The picnickers drowned in the sea while they were trying to save a child of the family prompting the onlookers to contact rescue services.

However, the worst incident occurred in 2014 when 41 people drowned on the second day of Eid at the Seaview beach, when a big wave took back the merrymakers enjoying at the beach during the holiday.
