According to US Defence Security Cooperation Agency, the State Department approved sale of AH-1Z Viper Attack Helicopters and AGM-114R Hellfire-II Missiles as part of around $1 billion deal.
In a statement, the US agency said the sale will contribute to the foreign policy and national security of the United States by helping to improve the security of a country vital to US foreign policy goals in South Asia.
The helicopters and weapon systems will improve Pakistan military’s capabilities in operations against terrorism and insurgency.
The proposed sale will provide Pakistan with a precision strike, enhanced survivability aircraft that it can operate at high-altitudes.
