ISLAMABAD, August 21, 2026: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Asad Qaiser claims that Chief Minister (CM) of Punjab, Maryam Nawaz, was unhappy with the Supreme Court’s decision to transfer Imran Khan to Shifa International Hospital.
Speaking on ARY News programme On My Radar, Qaiser claims that PTI had an idea that the federal government would implement the Supreme Court’s order regarding Imran Khan’s transfer to Shifa International.
He alleged that the government’s intentions were doubtful and said it was using delaying tactics. Qaiser announced that PTI would file a contempt of court petition in the Supreme Court tomorrow.
PTI leader said that there was no ambiguity in the Supreme Court’s order as every aspect was clearly defined, adding that PTI wanted to decrease the political temperature but the government worsened the situation.
He alleged that the government neither respects the law, constitution, parliament, nor does it respect the judiciary. Qaiser said that PTI has only one option left and that is to mobilize people for a street movement.
Qaiser alleged that the government is turning the country into a “banana republic” by not accepting the court’s order.
“We wanted national unity, but the government dealt a major blow to our efforts.”
During the show, Qaiser pointed out that PTI had meetings with the law minister and other government officials. He claimed that PTI gave a positive signal to the government, but they made it into a spectacle.
Qaiser also said that Mahmood Achakzai assured the government that Imran Khan would not seek revenge against anyone.
